Continuity commitment
You are trusting us with the record of a life. That deserves a plain answer to an uncomfortable question: what happens to your vault if this company changes hands, or ceases to trade?
Your vault is exportable at any time, today. From Settings, you can download everything you have written — every chamber entry, biography chapter, letter, life and care record, and the details of every person you have named — as a single encrypted file. That export is the foundation of everything below. It does not depend on our goodwill, our funding, or our continued existence.
If we wind down, we tell you first. We commit to at least ninety days' written notice to every member before the service closes, sent to the email on your account. During that period the vault stays open, exports keep working, and we will help you move what you have built somewhere else.
If we are acquired, your terms travel with you. A buyer takes on this commitment and the privacy policy as they stand on the day of sale. We will not use a change of ownership to weaken what you were promised, and you will be told before it happens.
Nominees are not left stranded. If a vault is already unlocked when notice is given, the people you named keep their access for the whole notice period, and receive the same export you do.
What we do not claim. We do not hold an endowment, escrow, or trust fund that guarantees hosting beyond the life of the company, and we will not imply otherwise. “Perpetual” is the name of a plan with no renewal date and no recurring charge — it is not a legal guarantee of infinite hosting, and no honest company could offer one. What we can promise is the notice period above, and that you always hold your own copy.
